Mary Teague Way passed Sept 29 as RES.157-2026 — and that’s a correction to our own record verified
On Sept 29 the council ran a double-header at Saunders Trades and Technical High School: a 6:30 PM public hearing on the honorary street renaming, then the 7:00 PM stated meeting. This morning’s pull of the city’s legislation record shows every one of the 13 items from that night now reads “Passed” with a Sept 29 pass date. The correction that matters most is ours to print: our Government page carried the Mary Teague Way renaming as “Held” from Oct 8 until Monday’s fix — the record now reads otherwise. The same Legistar record we linked then (filed as TMP-0820) is now RES.157-2026, status “Passed,” pass date Sept 29, 2026. Its full title, verbatim: RESOLUTION HONORING THE LIFE AND LEGACY OF MARY TEAGUE AND AUTHORIZING THE HONORARY STREET RENAMING OF HAWTHORNE AVENUE FROM HUDSON STREET TO MAIN STREET AS “MARY TEAGUE WAY” — so Hawthorne Avenue’s stretch from Hudson Street to Main Street now carries the honorary name.
The rest of the night’s 13, all passed Sept 29: the South Broadway and Caryl Avenue right-of-way encroachment special ordinance (SO.48-2026), the inter-municipal agreement with the Yonkers IDA for employment-related assistance (RES.158-2026), and ten recognition resolutions — Italian American Heritage Month (RES.162-2026), Breast Cancer Awareness Month (RES.166-2026), Fire Prevention Month and Week (RES.167-2026), Disability Employment Awareness Month (RES.160-2026), Polish American Heritage Month (RES.164-2026), LGBTQ+ History Month (RES.161-2026), National Bullying Prevention Month and Unity Day (RES.165-2026), World Cerebral Palsy Day (RES.163-2026), National Custodian Appreciation Day (RES.168-2026) and NICU Awareness (RES.159-2026). One cold spot in the record: nothing from the Oct 13 docket has passed — its filings, the grants and settlements included, all still read “Referred.”
Tonight at 6: the Zoning Board’s 16-case hearing night verified Oct 1
Tonight, 6:00 PM, Saunders Trades and Technical High School auditorium, 183 Palmer Rd — the Zoning Board of Appeals convenes over a 16-case draft agenda: nine open or continued hearings plus seven new ones. The headline requests, per the posted draft: a 201,760-square-foot warehouse and office building at 79 Austin Ave, a 60-unit apartment building at 69 Spruce St, a 56-unit building at 68–72 Buena Vista Ave, and a variance-heavy new apartment proposal at 1221 Yonkers Avenue. One caveat, our standard one: the city’s site 403s to our automated pulls today (the standing bot-wall), so the case list is as carried since our Oct 1 check — the board may continue or reorder cases at the hearing itself.
Oct 27, one-two: the stated meeting finally posts Final — and the zoning hearing’s notice vanishes verified
The ghost found its sheet. The 7:00 PM stated meeting’s detail page — “Draft” and hidden through yesterday — flipped overnight: it now reads “Agenda status: Final”, “Meeting date/time: 10/27/2026 at 7:00 PM” (the time field was empty on every pull since Friday), “Meeting location: City Hall – City Council Chambers 4th Floor” — though “Published agenda” and “Agenda packet” still read “Not available.” The docket behind it, via the events feed: adopt the Oct 13 minutes — “Minutes of the Stated Meeting held on Tuesday, October 13, 2026 approved by motion of Majority Leader Rubbo” — plus two placeholder filings introduced Oct 21: TMP-0867, “There are NO OLD ITEMS for Consideration for the City Council Meeting scheduled for TUESDAY, October 27, 2026, 7:00 P.M.” and TMP-0868, the same for NO NEW ITEMS. No legislation is docketed.
The 6:30 PM zoning hearing across the hall went the other way — its paper trail thinned overnight. The hearing-notice filing TMP-0866 (“Public Hearing Notice – GO AMENDING CHAPTER 43 – DMX Zoning”) now reads “Withdrawn” in this morning’s pull; its detail page returns HTTP 410, “Gone”; the agenda PDF we linked yesterday now 404s; and the events feed lists the hearing’s agenda as “Hidden”. But the event itself is still listed — 6:30 PM, same room — and the rezoning ordinance it advertises, TMP-0811, is untouched: still “Referred.” TMP-0811 is the general ordinance amending General Ordinance 4-2000 — Chapter 43, the Zoning Ordinance — and the zoning map “to reclassify and rezone certain properties to D-MX or UR-HD district,” with matching edits to the ordinance’s four map attachments. Read together: a withdrawn notice and a hidden agenda, but no cancellation anywhere in the record. If you care about the D-MX/UR-HD map changes, the safe move is still to show up Tuesday at 6:30.
