About
Who writes this, and how it's made
Yonkers Local Scoop is a free local newsletter for Yonkers, NY. It is written and reviewed by Alex Tiratsuyan, a Yonkers publisher who runs Local Scoop editions for Yonkers, New Rochelle, the Harlem Valley, and Putnam County, and who teaches free weekly AI classes at the Yonkers public library through Library AI Courses.
How each issue is made
Every issue is AI-assisted and human-reviewed. The process:
- Collect. Public sources only — city agendas, county announcements, official alerts, local news coverage.
- Draft. AI helps summarize and organize the material. AI writes the first draft; a person decides what runs.
- Verify. Every fact is checked against the linked source before publishing. The city government guide gets a second AI fact-check pass against official records.
- Publish. Nothing goes out without a source link you can check yourself.
If a source conflicts with what an issue says, the source wins. Read the linked source — that's the point of linking it.
Corrections. If something is wrong, email tips@yonkerslocalscoop.com with the issue number and the source. Real corrections get fixed in the next issue and noted here.
What this site is not
Yonkers Local Scoop is not affiliated with the City of Yonkers, Yonkers Public Schools, or any government body. It is an independent newsletter. The city government guide is a resident-built reference, not an official city page.
