Ten days out: early voting opens this morning — and today is the last day to register

Election Day minus ten, and the deadlines stack on one day: Westchester’s nine-day early voting window opens 10 AM this morning — the same day voter registration closes. Not registered? Today you can register and vote in one trip at any early voting site in the county, including Yonkers’ three. Also inside: Tuesday’s council docket still lists no legislation three days out, the downtown Halloween bar crawl names its six bars, and the YMCA’s Fright Fest lands Friday.

Three days to Tuesday — and the docket is still an empty page

The Oct 27 stated meeting: a printed agenda with nothing on it verified

The council’s Oct 27 stated meeting — Tuesday, 7:00 PM, City Hall – City Council Chambers 4th Floor — now has its printed agenda PDF up, and this morning’s pull of the meeting record shows the same slim shape it’s had all week: roll call, the pledge, “Minutes of the Stated Meeting held on Tuesday, October 13, 2026 approved by motion of Majority Leader Rubbo”, the standing communications and committee sections, and two placeholder filings introduced Oct 21 — “There are NO OLD ITEMS for Consideration for the City Council Meeting scheduled for TUESDAY, October 27, 2026, 7:00 P.M.” and its new-items twin. Both placeholders read “Agenda Ready” in this morning’s legislation pull. As of this morning, no legislation is docketed for Tuesday — if filings land before the meeting, the docket grows; the record we can see says otherwise.

That keeps the wait on the Oct 13 pile: all eleven of its filings — the former School # 9 conveyance, the resolution urging AI restrictions in elementary schools, four grants totaling $1,812,576.01, the $20,000 settlement over the March 2023 McDonald’s melee, and the rest — still read “Referred” in this morning’s pull, eleven days after the meeting, none with a pass date. “Referred” means sitting in committee. When the Sept 29 docket finally resolved earlier this week, the outcomes landed in one clerk update — the same could happen any day now.

The 6:30 hearing that’s listed but not noticed — re-checked, unchanged verified

Tuesday’s stranger item, re-verified this morning: the events feed still lists a 6:30 PM public hearing that evening at the same City Hall chambers — but its notice filing, TMP-0866 (“Public Hearing Notice - GO AMENDING CHAPTER 43 - DMX Zoning”), still reads “Withdrawn” in the legislation pull (record last modified Oct 21), and the hearing’s agenda page stays gone. The rezoning ordinance behind it — TMP-0811, the D-MX / UR-HD map amendment — remains “Referred.” A withdrawn notice with a live event listing is the record contradicting itself, and this morning’s check changes nothing: if the D-MX/UR-HD rezoning matters to you, the calendar’s answer is still “show up Tuesday at 6:30.”

Early voting opens 10 AM this morning — and closes the registration window at the same time

Register and vote in one trip, today only verified

Two deadlines land on today’s date, per the county Board of Legislators’ election briefing: registration applications must be received by the Board of Elections by today, Saturday, October 24 — and “eligible residents can also register and vote the same day at any early voting site on October 24.” (The DMV’s online registration window closed yesterday, Oct 23.) Miss both and you sit out the Nov 3 general.

Early voting runs nine days, today through Sunday, November 1, at any of the county’s 25 sites — you’re not locked to your neighborhood one. Yonkers’ three: Grinton I. Will Library (1500 Central Park Avenue), Nodine Hill Community Center (140 Fillmore Street), and Riverfront Library (One Larkin Center). Hours: 10 AM–6 PM weekends (today, Sunday, Oct 31, Nov 1); 8 AM–4 PM Monday, Wednesday, Friday; 12 PM–8 PM Tuesday, Thursday. Any registered voter can also request an early mail ballot “without an excuse”, postmarked by Election Day. The county notes the site list is “Subject to Change.” Election Day itself is Tuesday, November 3 — ten days out — and early-voting results get canvassed and reported after 9 PM that night.
