One week out: the zoning hearing, the hidden meeting — and $1.85M for Harrison Ave

Seven days from tonight, the council holds its public hearing on the D-MX / UR-HD rezoning — Oct 27, 6:30 PM, City Hall Chambers, agenda Final. The 7:00 PM stated meeting the same night is still a ghost: its page reads “Agenda status: Draft” with nothing posted, and the calendar grid still flags it “Not viewable by the public”. Meanwhile, from White Plains: $1.85 million, approved unanimously, for the flooding on Harrison Avenue. And registration closes Saturday — the fall blood drive is today.

Seven days to the zoning hearing — and a split screen at City Hall

Oct 27, 6:30 PM: the D-MX / UR-HD rezoning hearing, agenda Final verified

One week from tonight, the City Council’s public hearing on the citywide rezoning ordinance opens at 6:30 PM on Tuesday, October 27 in City Hall – City Council Chambers, 4th Floor. The agenda is Final and published, with a two-item docket: the hearing notice itself, and the general ordinance it advertises — TMP-0811, which amends General Ordinance 4-2000, Chapter 43 — the city’s Zoning Ordinance — and the zoning map “to reclassify and rezone certain properties to D-MX or UR-HD district,” and rewrites the ordinance’s four map attachments (13–16: Key Streets, Heights District, Sidewalk Width, Districts) to include the rezoned properties. If you own property, live near, or do business on any of the affected parcels, this hearing is where the public record gets made — public comment happens at the hearing itself.

The 7:00 PM stated meeting, day five: still Draft, still hidden verified

The other Oct 27 event is no closer to public. Re-pulled this morning: the stated meeting’s detail page still reads “Agenda status: Draft”, “Published agenda: Not available”, “Agenda packet: Not available” — no items listed, and the date field shows 10/27/2026 with no time (the 7:00 PM start lives on the calendar row). And that calendar row’s “Meeting details” link is still grayed out, titled “Not viewable by the public” — the same grayed-out flag since the Oct 16 check, with today’s calendar pull still carrying the 7:00 PM time on that row. A stated meeting with no posted agenda seven days out is the story; we’ll keep pulling it every morning until it posts.

Oct 13, day seven: minutes still Draft, eleven files still “Referred” verified

A week after the fact, the Oct 13 stated meeting (held at Saunders Trades and Technical High School – Auditorium) still shows Minutes status: Draft, and every file on its 11-item docket still reads “Referred” in this morning’s legislation pull — sent to committee, not passed. The docket: the P.S. 9 conveyance local law; four grant acceptances totaling $1,812,576.01 (Field Hall Foundation $30,000; state CHIPS $202,648.00; federal ESG $285,304.00; federal HOME $1,294,624.01); the $20,000 Santos/Aponte settlement; the AI-in-elementary-schools resolution urging restrictions on student AI use; the Italian Heritage/Columbus Day declaration; a Commissioner of Deeds item; and the three new IT positions budget amendment — plus the eleventh file, the Greenburgh police-and-fire training-center agreement, referred Oct 6. The newest action date anywhere in the recent-legislation pull is still Oct 13. Nothing has moved.

$1.85M for Harrison Ave flooding — and four days to register

County board votes unanimously: $1.85M for Harrison Avenue flood control verified

The news Yonkers homeowners along Harrison Avenue have waited for: the Westchester County Board of Legislators unanimously approved $1.85 million for a flood control project along Harrison Avenue at its meeting on Monday, September 28 — part of a three-measure, $6-million-plus infrastructure package. The money covers construction of drainage improvements designed to prevent stormwater from pooling; the County and City of Yonkers will split the cost during construction, which the Board says is expected to start in the Fall of 2027. Yonkers legislators carried it: Budget vice chair David J. Tubiolo (D–Yonkers, Mount Vernon): “Harrison Avenue has endured severe, repetitive flood damage for far too long.” Infrastructure & Housing chair Shanae Williams (D–Yonkers): “we have to make the investments that keep our communities safe, accessible, and moving forward.” The same package also authorized no-cost upkeep agreements for Bee-Line bus shelters with more than 20 municipalities.

Registration closes Saturday — same-day registration exists, but only at early voting sites verified

Re-verified this morning against the Board of Legislators’ election briefing: registration closes this Saturday, October 24 (DMV online registrations by Friday, October 23). Miss it? Eligible residents can “register and vote the same day at any early voting site on October 24.” Early voting runs October 24 through November 1 — 10 AM–6 PM weekends; 8 AM–4 PM Monday, Wednesday and Friday; and 12 PM–8 PM Tuesday and Thursday. Any registered voter can request an early mail ballot without an excuse, postmarked by Election Day, Tuesday, November 3. That’s 14 days out.
