Issue #017 · Saturday, September 26, 2026 · 5 min read · By Alex Tiratsuyan

Tuesday’s docket is up. The money isn’t on it.

The Sept 29 stated-meeting agenda is out — 13 action items: one encroachment ordinance, the Mary Teague Way renaming, a Yonkers IDA agreement and ten proclamations. Not one of Sept 15’s 38 still-Referred items made the cut. And a correction: the meeting is at Saunders’ auditorium, not City Hall. Plus three city-services stories — a South Broadway survey, mobile tax offices, and zoning appeals going digital.

Tuesday’s agenda: 13 items, no Sept 15 carryover

The Sept 29 stated meeting has its Final agenda verified

The Tuesday, Sept 29, 7 PM stated meeting now has a Final agenda on Legistar — it appeared in the record between Friday morning’s check and today’s. Count it up: 13 action items — one special ordinance authorizing an encroachment in the right-of-way on South Broadway and Caryl Avenue, subject to terms and conditions; the Mary Teague Way honorary street renaming; an inter-municipal agreement with the Yonkers Industrial Development Agency for employment-related assistance (flagged positive fiscal impact); and ten proclamation resolutions — NICU Awareness Month, Disability Employment Awareness Month, LGBTQ+ History Month, Italian American Heritage Month, World Cerebral Palsy Day, Polish American Heritage Month, National Bullying Prevention Month and Unity Day, Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Fire Prevention Month and Week, and Custodian Appreciation Day.

Correction first: it’s at Saunders, not City Hall verified

Friday’s issue listed the stated meeting in the Council Chambers, City Hall 4th floor, per the calendar at the time. The posted agenda and meeting page now say otherwise: Saunders Trades and Technical High School — Auditorium, 183 Palmer Rd. That puts both of Tuesday’s sessions in the same building — the 6:30 PM public hearing was already set for the Saunders auditorium. Minutes for the stated meeting are not yet available; the meeting page lists their status as draft.

The hearing first: Mary Teague Way verified

At 6:30 PM, before the stated meeting, the council holds a public hearing on a resolution honoring the life and legacy of Mary Teague and authorizing the honorary street renaming of Hawthorne Avenue from Hudson Street to Main Street as “Mary Teague Way.” The renaming resolution is also on the 7 PM agenda itself. This is the public’s shot to speak on it.

And Sept 15’s 38 items? Still parked verified

We checked the new agenda item-by-item against the 38-item Sept 15 docket: none of them appear on it. The $3,321,809.25 petroleum-spill settlement (a spill from about June 6, 1989), the $4,050,000 Westchester Housing Implementation Fund grant for 636 South Broadway, the self-storage moratorium, the former P.S. 9 conveyance, the 566 Saw Mill River Road sale — every one still reads “Referred,” with no recorded vote, as of this check. Whether they surface at a later meeting or in committee is exactly what we’ll be watching.

Three city services stories worth your minute

The city wants your take on South Broadway verified

Yonkers launched “Investing in South Broadway,” a planning initiative for the corridor from Park Hill Avenue to Caryl Avenue — housing choices, neighborhood businesses, walking and transportation. The survey is live in English and Spanish at InvestingInSouthBroadway.com, and the project site maps the corridor’s four planning sections: North Gateway, Ludlow Station Area, South Broadway Main Street and South Gateway. “We want to hear what’s working, what needs attention and what residents want to see in the years ahead,” Mayor Spano said in the announcement. The effort builds on a first community meeting held June 9.

Mobile tax offices roll out next week verified

Can’t get to City Hall? Tax Department and Constituent Services staff will collect property taxes and water bill payments and answer questions at three stops: Wed Sept 30, 9 AM–6:30 PM, Homefield House (911 Saw Mill River Rd.); Thu Oct 1, 9 AM–7 PM, Grinton I. Will Library (1500 Central Park Ave.); and Mon Oct 5, 9 AM–7 PM, Coyne Park/Bernice Spreckman Community Center (777 McLean Ave.). Worth noting: the second installment of the 2027 city property tax is due Tuesday, Oct 6. Questions: Constituent Services at (914) 377-6010, 9 AM–4:30 PM, or the 24/7 Mayor’s Help Line at 377-HELP (4357).

Zoning and landmarks appeals go digital verified

The city expanded its MuniCollab platform to the Zoning Board of Appeals and the Landmarks Preservation Board. Both boards now take applications through the portal — the ZBA’s full appeals process and the landmarks board’s Certificates of Appropriateness, waivers and designation matters, from submission through final decision, with project info and application status visible to the public. Browse or file at the ZBA portal and the landmarks portal.
