Still in committee. Tomorrow's the next look.

Our Monday check of the city's own legislation record shows all four of the fall's headliners in “Referred” status, with the fall stack's action dates still running only as late as Sept 15. Tomorrow is the next chance to move them: Legislation & Codes at 6 PM in the Council Chambers, then a Rules Committee at 6:30 PM out at Saunders Trades & Technical High School. Also today: three items in the file we hadn't told you about yet, eight September proclamations, and Comic Con on Saturday.

Referred on both sides of the weekend

The big four: day six in committee, status unchanged verified

Six days after the Sept 15 session (twelve for the rezoning package, referred Sept 9), the city's Legistar legislation record still shows all four headliners in “Referred” status as of this morning's check, and every matter in the fall's recent-action list carries an action date of Sept 9 or Sept 15. The four: the local law authorizing the conveyance of the former Public School #9 for redevelopment, the special ordinance to approve an amendment to the previously amended MHACY exemption agreement and authorizing a three-year abatement of payments in lieu of taxes, the riverfront PUR permit resolution (the Riverside Drive / Admiral Way / Fisherman Way “Lots 1–13” stretch), and the rezoning package reclassifying certain properties to D-MX or UR-HD districts. Referred means with committee, not law. Tomorrow is the next look: Legislation & Codes, Tuesday Sept 22 at 6 PM in the Council Chambers (City Hall, 4th floor) — the record lists its agenda as Final — and a Rules Committee at 6:30 PM the same evening, meeting outside City Hall at the Saunders Trades and Technical High School auditorium, 183 Palmer Road. Then the next full stated meeting, Tuesday Sept 29 at 7 PM, back in the Chambers.

Three items in the file we hadn't pulled yet verified

All referred with the Sept 15 stack, none of them law yet. First, a resolution calling upon Governor Kathy Hochul to sign A.10414/S.9356, establishing a twenty-five year retirement program for New York City Department of Environmental Protection water supply police. Second, a general ordinance amending §43-33(J)(2) of the city code — the zoning rules for front yard setbacks for through lots as defined in the code — filed alongside its own SEQRA determination of significance. Third, the routinely required Commissioner of Deeds resolution. Each carries an action date of Sept 15 and a “Referred” status.

September is a lot of things, per the council verified

Eight proclamations rode in with the Sept 15 stack, all referred to committee like everything else — so none has formally taken effect yet. On the list: Hispanic Heritage Month, Sept 15 through Oct 15; Prostate Cancer Awareness Month; National Sickle Cell Awareness Month; National Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month; Childhood Cancer Awareness Month; National Suicide Prevention Month; National Policewoman's Day (Sept 12); and Patriot Day and National Day of Service in honor of 9/11 (Sept 11). Small print, real calendar.

Italian flag raising, next Monday checked sept 19

Mayor Spano hosts an Italian flag raising & coffee reception on Monday, Sept 28, 4–5 PM — it was still on the city's civic calendar at our last readable check. We could not re-verify it this morning: the city's calendar pages are returning 403 to our automated checks, so treat that time as our Sept 19 reading rather than today's.
