Issue #027 · Monday, October 12, 2026 · 3 min read · By Alex Tiratsuyan

Council night is tomorrow — the docket is locked, and Oct 27 is now official.

Columbus Day. City Hall is quiet, but Tuesday’s 7 PM stated meeting at One Larkin Center is set: 11 items, agenda Final, no additions in this morning’s check — P.S. 9 leads, then $1,812,576.01 in grants, a $20,000 settlement, and the AI-in-elementary-schools resolution. The Legistar calendar now confirms a second October stated meeting on Oct 27. And the weekend’s good news: the Break the Silence 5K raised more than $5,000 for YCAP. Libraries are closed today.

Meeting eve: what’s on the table Tuesday

The docket, unchanged: 11 items, agenda Final verified

A holiday-Monday check of the Legistar record shows no additions or changes to Tuesday’s agenda since Sunday’s pull — same 11 items, status Final, 7:00 PM at One Larkin Center, Board Room, 4th Floor. The running order: the P.S. 9 conveyance local law (file TMP-0864) opens; four grant acceptances follow — $30,000 (Field Hall Foundation), $202,648 (state CHIPS), $285,304 (federal ESG), $1,294,624.01 (federal HOME), together $1,812,576.01; then a budget amendment adding three IT Department positions; the Greenburgh training-center agreement; the $20,000 settlement over an alleged excessive-force incident at the McDonald’s at 155 South Broadway; the AI-in-elementary-schools resolution; a Columbus Day declaration; and a Commissioner of Deeds item. One clerical oddity for process watchers: the IT-positions ordinance is filed under a stray number — plain “TMP-086,” missing the fourth digit, separate from the TMP-086x run.

The quiet ledger: Sept 29 stack still waiting, next stop after Tuesday is Oct 27 verified

Nothing new hit the legislation file over the holiday weekend: the newest action date across the entire recent file is Oct 6 (the Greenburgh agreement’s referral), and all twelve Sept 29 matters still read “Agenda Ready” — we spot-checked the South Broadway/Caryl Avenue encroachment (TMP-0845) directly today: queued, last touched Oct 5, and not on Tuesday’s agenda. The Legistar calendar now lists the council’s next stated meeting after Tuesday: Tuesday, Oct 27, 7:00 PM, back at City Hall Council Chambers, 4th Floor — a likely landing spot for whatever stays queued tomorrow night.

The 5K’s final number

Break the Silence 5K: hundreds turned out, $5,000+ for YCAP verified

The walk we’ve been spotlighting came and went: hundreds gathered at Tibbetts Brook Park on Saturday for the third annual Break the Silence for Domestic Violence Survivors 5K, where organizers had expected about 200 participants. More than $5,000 was raised through walk registrations alone, with proceeds benefiting the Yonkers Community Action Program, which offers services and resources to people impacted by domestic violence. The help lines behind the cause stay open all year — numbers in Resources below.

Fire-safety tour rolls on verified

Fire Prevention Week ended Oct 10, but the fire department’s school tour continues: “Charge into Fire Safety” stops at Montessori School 27, 132 Valentine Lane, tomorrow (Oct 13), and Casimir Pulaski School, 150 Kings Cross, on Oct 22. Old lithium-ion batteries can still go to the Yonkers Recycling Center, 735 Saw Mill River Road. (Details from the city’s Oct 1 announcement, last checked Oct 5 — the city site still blocks automated pulls, so not re-checked today.)
